Putting on my Tophat, tying up my Bouquet Garni!

I’m making soup and getting my tuxedo ready. Yes that’s right I mean exactly what I just said…

Exactly how do these two incoherent ideas fit together in one moment in time? Well in my home surprisingly more often than you might think. ThatRedhead has been a bit under the weather towards the end of this week so I’m creating a batch of a soup with a little twist that makes it something I’ve never made before. There is a secret ingredient. 0-4Here’s a photo I wonder if anybody might be able to identify what it is? Although I do wear a tux 5 days a week tonight I’m wearing my special tux: the one I never wear to work just so when I get to go out really dressed up I don’t feel like it’s an anticlimax. It’s Oscar night of course and what better way to celebrate than to go to a fancy party at a trendy restaurant called Nellcote. I’ve never been there but a bunch of foodies I know have and it looks really cool. It was either this or watch the Hawks game. Hmm?

So I suppose that there will be photos and recipes to follow, but since the party is sponsored by The Chicago Bloggers network (which I am now a member of so I can go to the party thanks to ThatRedhead) I figured I better darn well have a blog post to start the event. I suspect it will be a fine time. For the record I like Argo for Best Picture, Daniel Day Lewis for Best Actor, Jennifer Lawrence for Best Actress, Tommy Lee Jones for Best Supporting Actor, Anne Hathaway for Best Supporting Actress and Ang Lee for Best Director if anybody out there cares. I also like ThatRedhead and I for Best dressed couple and I definitely like my new creation as Best New Soup in a leading role. Now off to the Red Carpet. Soup and stories later…

About Jim Herbert

I've been wanting to write my whole life. By age 45 it had amounted to nothing more than a storage locker of half full journals and a lot of unfulfilled dreams. Then Paris in the fall of 2011 happened. It was the catalyst I needed to consistently blog. At first I had a hard time hitting the publish button, but now two blog sites and over 300 posts later I'm hitting my stride. I'm also a budding speech writer. I've recently been heavily involved in the Chicago Storytelling scene and have also won the Chicago Toastmasters Area 66 International Speech Contest. Check out our website at www.emergingintojoy.com for more details about the amazing things that are happening in my life. A book or two are nearing completion. With another Paris trip on tap for Easter of 2015 I can only imagine that there are Infinite Possibilities on the horizon!!!
