What you Crave…

No it’s not White Castle. Tonight after yoga I met a few friends at Big Bowl and had a wonderful conversation and an appetizer. I didn’t have any desire to eat a meal there because I had a specific craving all day. In this exact moment in time I am in a place that says why wait until tomorrow to do what you can today.

unnamed-12Little did  know when I moved to the North side I would be minutes away from the original Lou Malnati’s pizza parlor in Lincolnwood. This pizza has been a favorite of ours for many years and the butter crust deep dish is one of the top two pizzas in the city in my mind. So tonight before I drove home I placed my first order at the original. I drove up the Eden’s expressway to Touhy Avenue. I came home with my pizza and then dealt with a fridge and freezer that had conked out, but in the grand scheme that is small stuff. After calling my landlord and making a plan for repair I fired up the aforementioned radio of my last post and heated up a few slices. I’m equally excited for enjoying them in the moment as I am for my lovely wife CJ coming home to the wonderful surprise after her Monday night at work.

Maybe it’s just a slice or two of pizza but in this exact moment in time it seems like so much more. Yet another chapter in a life of bliss and joy. Things are as good as you let them be. Tonight I am letting it be…

About Jim Herbert

I've been wanting to write my whole life. By age 45 it had amounted to nothing more than a storage locker of half full journals and a lot of unfulfilled dreams. Then Paris in the fall of 2011 happened. It was the catalyst I needed to consistently blog. At first I had a hard time hitting the publish button, but now two blog sites and over 300 posts later I'm hitting my stride. I'm also a budding speech writer. I've recently been heavily involved in the Chicago Storytelling scene and have also won the Chicago Toastmasters Area 66 International Speech Contest. Check out our website at www.emergingintojoy.com for more details about the amazing things that are happening in my life. A book or two are nearing completion. With another Paris trip on tap for Easter of 2015 I can only imagine that there are Infinite Possibilities on the horizon!!!
